You will need an image editor or viewer to resize image files. If you do not have one, you can download a free image editor program, for a list from:
- download.com, click here
- webattack.com, click here
- other freeware sites, click here
Note:- Resizing images inside the SiteBuilder does change the size of the image, but does not change the file size.
- To resize the image and change the file size, the image must be resized and saved with an image editor program, and the resized image imported to your Homestead web site.
This tutorial will use IrFanView, a free program (click
here to go to download page), but the same basic instructions apply to other image editing programs.
Here's how to resize an image:
1. Open the program IrFanView

2. In the file menu, along the top of the program, click on "File" and select "Open"

3. Browse and select the desired image to convert

4. The image will appear in the Irfanview program

5. In the file menu along the top of the program, click on "Image" and select "Resize/Resample".

6. A new window will appear, and you can change the image size in three ways as indicated by the arrows:
- input custom pixel sizes
- choose a percentage of current height and width
- choose a pre-set standard dimension

Note:
- If the "Preserve Aspect Ratio" box is checked, only one dimension can be changed, either "height" or "width", and the other dimension will automatically change to make sure the image appears correctly.

If you wish to enter the dimensions for both "height" and "width", uncheck the "Preserve Aspect Ratio" box, and enter the desired "height" and "width".

- This may cause the image to appear distorted, if the height and width are not proportionate to the original dimensions.

7. Save image as another name, to preserve the original image and image size.
(Please note that none of the above are official partners of Homestead, nor have we done any extensive testing of what they have to offer. Use of their tools and services must be undertaken at your own risk.)
