How do I use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint files with a web site?

There are two ways to use a Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file with your Homestead web site. You can allow others to download the file to view or you can save it as a web page, so others can see it in their browser.

To save the Word, Excel, or Powerpoint file as a web page:

After you have saved the document as a web page, link to the appropriate "html" or "htm" file as you would link to any imported html page in the "Edit Link" window.

To post the file for others to download with the "Post file" element:

1. Click on "Imported Files and HTML" and select "Post File"

2. The "Element Editor" will appear

3. If you have not imported the file, click on the "Import New File" button. If you have imported the file and do not see it in the list, click on the "Refresh" button.

4. After selecting the desired file, choose the type of image for the link.

5. Type the desired text in the "Label" box and select the desired text characteristics, this will appear below the image.

6. Click "OK" and you will see the linked "Post File" element in the SiteBuilder. If the text does not display correctly, click and hold on the corner of the element.

7. Resize it to display correctly

To create a custom link to the file:

1. Select the element or highlight the text you would like to link

2. Click on the "Link" button on the Sitebuilder

3. In the "Edit Link" window, select "Imported File" and use the pulldown menu to select the desired file.
